The Bureau for Children and Families is responsible for the operation of a number of programs that affect families and children, including day care centers, adult care providers, early childhood services and the fostering and adoption of West Virginia children. Staff are located in every county in West Virginia. The staff in the Bureau's State office in Charleston, West Virginia are responsible for program and policy development, finance and management, research and evaluation, and other similar administrative activities.
