The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, Bureau for Public Health will hold a meeting of the Public Health Impact Task Force (PHITF) on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 12:30 p.m., at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV.
The meeting will include a presentation on the funding and structure of district health departments in Virginia by Robert W. Hicks, Deputy Commissioner of Community Health Services, Virginia Department of Health; Jennifer L. Mayton, Operations Director for Community Health Services, Virginia Department of Health; and Dr. Charles Devine, Health Director of Lord Fairfax Health District. PHITF meetings are open to the public and include a public comment period.
Dr. Rahul Gupta, State Health Officer and Commissioner for the Bureau for Public Health, commissioned the PHITF with membership comprising of representatives from BPH, local health departments, private and public partner organizations, and policy makers. The goal of the PHITF is to redefine the mission of public health in West Virginia by making recommendations to define structural and organizational changes required to revolutionize the public health system.
