CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Cabinet Secretary Karen L. Bowling today announced the issuance of a 6-month provisional license for the Potomac Center Main Campus, effective April 29, 2014.
The provisional license issued through the Department’s Bureau for Children and Families will allow the Potomac Center to open cottages to house 8 children ages 5-21 years. Potomac Center has implemented a corrective action plan that ensures the necessary program changes to provide for the safety and well-being of the children.
"Over the course of three months, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources has worked with the Potomac Center to ensure they meet all the criteria for licensure and have appropriate guidelines in place to provide a safe environment for the residents," Bowling said. "I appreciate the county judges, prosecutors, and behavioral health providers that have truly partnered with DHHR throughout this process."
The Bureau for Children and Families Licensing staff will be on-site frequently to review the facility, complete random safety checks, and review protocols and procedures.
