The Community Collaborative groups were originally formed in the late 90's. Their purpose is ensuring timely, consistent, and seamless community response for child safety. Another purpose of these groups is to help develop, link, and implement services that assist youth transitioning into adulthood to help prepare them for independent living. The Community Collaborative Groups were placed under the auspices of the Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR). Currently there are 13 groups throughout West Virginia that are composed of many different partners.
Community Collaborative Groups are volunteer groups made up of Family Resource Network Directors, DHHR Community Managers, community stakeholders, service providers, family members and members of the public. Through monthly meetings these members discuss service gaps and how to build capacity on already existing services. These meetings can be in person or held via telecommunications.
