The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) today announced a supplemental propane payment to assist eligible residents with heating expenses for the 2015-16 winter season. The payments are made possible with a $250,000 lawsuit settlement by David J. Romano, Romano Law Office; Melinda F. Levitt, Foley & Lardner; Meghan M. Cloud, McQuire Woods, LLP; and Edgar C. Gentle, III, Court Appointed Claims Administrator.
“I am pleased that the Department of Health and Human Resources is able to provide a payment to help eligible West Virginians with propane heating expenses,” DHHR Cabinet Secretary Karen L. Bowling said. “This settlement will help offset rising heating costs families may experience this winter.”
Residents who receive propane and who applied for and received a regular Low Income Energy Assistance Program payment this past winter will receive an automatic payment to assist with propane heating expenses.
All payments are expected to be issued by November 13, 2015. The payment will be sent to recipients at the address currently listed with DHHR.
