West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Cabinet Secretary Karen L. Bowling today announced the appointment of Kimberly A. Walsh as Acting Chief Executive Officer of William R. Sharpe, Jr. Hospital, effective December 4, 2014.
Walsh replaces Parker Haddix, who resigned effective December 1, 2014. Haddix has served as CEO since 2010.
"I am confident Kim's experience and proven management abilities will be successful for the patients and employees of William R. Sharpe, Jr. Hospital during this transitional period," Bowling said.
Walsh has served as the Deputy Commissioner of Programs for the DHHR's Bureau for Behavioral Health and Health Facilities since 2009. She has extensive work experience in the behavioral health field both in and out of state and previously served as president and chief executive officer of Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center.
"It is a privilege to accept this responsibility and I look forward to working closely with the Hospital's administrative team and employees," Walsh said.
Walsh holds master's degrees in Social Work and Public Administration and bachelor's degrees in Criminal Justice and Sociology from West Virginia University. Walsh is a master-level licensed Social Worker and has certifications in Educational Leadership and Victim Services.
