Presentations and Materials from the 2014 Preparedness Conference

6/2/2014

Here at CTP, we would like to take a minute to thank all of our presenters and all of those who were in attendance at the 2014 Preparedness Conference, “C”ing the Whole Response: Community, Collaboration, and Communication, held May 21-22 at West Virginia State University. We appreciate your being a part of another successful conference.

The conference brought together preparedness staff and volunteers from across the state who share an interest in public health and safety, including all levels of government, faith-based, non-profit and private sector organizations. Strategy discussions covered protecting important resources and the unique challenges and opportunities for coordinated disaster response and recovery operations. Conference attendees explored resources available for improved communication before, during and after an event.

“Preparedness is only successful through coordination and teamwork on all levels,” said Dr. Letitia Tierney, State Health Officer and Commissioner for the Bureau for Public Health. “This conference brings all stakeholders together to strengthen these relationships.”

The nearly 170 conference attendees included law enforcement officers, EMTs, paramedics, sanitarians, threat preparedness coordinators, behavioral health officials, volunteer organizations and others.

Center for Threat Preparedness Director Jerry Rhodes said conference attendees all have the same purpose: in a disaster, they’re called in to take care of the public’s health.
