Overview
Prevention Resources
In response to growing concerns regarding sports concussions and traumatic brain injury (TBI) among children and adolescents in West Virginia, a tiered educational campaign will be proposed that begins with state-level policy makers (legislators) and carries through to administrators of sports programs, coaches and instructors, parents, and children.
The West Virginia University Center for Excellence in Disabilities (WVUCED) Traumatic Brain Injury Program receives state and federal funding to provide resources that assist in the implementation of strategies that address sports-related concussion prevention, identification/screening, and return-to-play best practices.
The WVUCED TBI team will work collaboratively with the West Virginia University College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences in an effort to bridge gaps that may exist between TBI and sports-related areas of expertise.
