The mission of the West Virginia University (WVU) Injury Control Research Center (ICRC) is to advance the science and practice of injury prevention and control through research, education, outreach, and service. The research conducted and supported is intended to address national priorities for injury control while simultaneously emphasizing topics that are most relevant to West Virginia and the surrounding Appalachian region.
The WVU ICRC has been an active partner and supporter of the West Virginia Violence and Injury Prevention Program (WVVIPP) from its inception by providing data, strategic planning, literature, and grant proposal support.
The West Virginia Home Visitation Program (WVHVP), within the Office of Maternal, Child and Family Health, involves partnerships at federal, state and community levels to help families in need. The program is available for pregnant women and all children (birth to five). The WVHVP connects families with services and resources that provide education and support. The WVHVP delivers positive support, education, referrals, and information on resources right to families doorsteps.
The West Virginia Foundation for Rape Information and Services (WVFRIS) is West Virginia's state sexual assault coalition. WVFRIS works with allied professionals to strengthen services and develop intervention and prevention programs to address sexual violence, stalking, and dating violence.
WVFRIS provides community organizing expertise to enhance the West Virginia Violence and Injury Prevention Program’s collaborations and partnerships in the role of West Virginia’s Injury Community Implementation Group (ICIG). The West Virginia University Center for Excellence in Disabilities (WVU CED) provides education and training to university students in multiple disciplines; educates direct care providers who serve persons with disabilities and TBI; and provides policy makers with objective information about the status of disabilities services in West Virginia.
The West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence is a statewide network of community-based domestic violence programs and statewide offices working to end personal and institutional violence in the lives of women, children, and men.
The Governor’s Highway Safety Program (GHSP) is the lead agency for West Virginia’s participation in federally mandated and funded highway safety improvement measures. The purpose of GHSP is to encourage, promote, and support highway safety throughout West Virginia.
