Prevention Ethics TrainingCourse Overview:
This course is designed for prevention professionals who regularly face situations where ethical principals must be applied. While laws and policies are the foundation for responding ethically and in a culturally relevant manner, preventionists may face challenging situations that are not clearly prescribed by regulation.
This interactive training, developed by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Center for the Application of Prevention Technology, will explore ethical principles and their application to prevention practice through a decision-making process and use of scenarios. Opportunities to submit ideas for scenarios to process will be provided to individuals who register.
Learning Objectives: Define ethics and related terms, describe the six principles in the Prevention Code of Ethics, and use an ethical decision-making process to apply the Prevention Code of Ethics Continuing Education. This training will fulfill the 6-hour CE Prevention Ethics requirement for West Virginia prevention certification.
