Evidence-Based Practices
The Bureau for Behavioral Health (BBH) has launched the BBH Clearinghouse, an online database of evidence-based practices to help individuals, families, providers, schools, communities, and other partners make informed decisions about selecting effective prevention, early intervention, treatment, and recovery services.
This Clearinghouse aims to provide agencies and practitioners with valuable information regarding the level of effectiveness for various interventions. Information regarding the efficacy of programs throughout West Virginia is included in this database. Practitioners are invited to request review of programs that are not currently listed in the clearinghouse.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is committed to improving prevention, treatment, and recovery support services for mental and substance use disorders.The Evidence-Based Practices Resource Center provides communities, clinicians, policy-makers and others with the information and tools to incorporate evidence-based practices into their communities or clinical settings.
Recovery Residence Quality and Certification - During Special Session in May 2019 the Legislature passed, and the Governor signed, Senate Bill 1012, creating voluntary certification of recovery residences and authorizing rulemaking. In effect the bill requires DHHR to contract with the state National Alliance for Recovery Residences affiliate to “establish and implement an accreditation program for drug-free and alcohol-free recovery residences that shall maintain nationally recognized standards.” Read more about West Virginia Alliance of Recovery Residences www.wvarr.org.
COR-12 Pilot – West Virginia has collaborated with Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation on piloting their COR-12 Model, which integrates the best of 12-Step mutual and peer support recovery practices with evidence-based therapies and medical treatment to provide a holistic, person-centered approach to substance use disorder and mental health issues.
