About Us

The Bureau for Public Health is committed to empowering West Virginians to live their healthiest lives through programs that cover the lifespan from newborn care to death certificates and from drinking water to emergency medical services.  The dedicated public servants who work in the nine Offices and two Centers, work day in and day out to assure and advance safety and health for the people of our great state.  We embrace the values of community, science and evidence-based decision making, health equity, prevention and wellness, and the protection and improvement of the health of all West Virginians.  As a physician who grew up hunting and fishing in the West Virginia mountains, I understand the many facets and challenges of public health in West Virginia and am committed to ensuring a healthy and resilient future for the State of West Virginia.
