WEST VIRGINIA MEDICAID PROGRAM
STATE PLAN AMENDMENT 24-0002 and 24-0002-A
REGARDING ADULT DENTAL SERVICES
 

Pursuant to 42 C.F.R. § 440.386, the Department of Health and Human Resources (“Department”), Bureau for Medical Services (BMS) provides notice of the filing of two state plan amendments (SPAs), identified as SPA 24-0002 and 24-0002-A, with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), regarding the coverage of diagnostic, preventative and restorative dental services for adults age 21 and over. This coverage will exclude cosmetic services and will be limited to $2,000 every two years. This is an adjustment to SPAs 21-0001 and 21-0008-A that previously limited coverage to $1,000 per year. Dental services will be covered in accordance with 42 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 440.100.


This SPA will be made effective on July 1, 2024. The expected federal fiscal impact for adding these adult dental services for federal fiscal year (FFY) 2025 is approximately $0. The expected federal fiscal impact for FFY 2026 is $0.


This Notice is intended to satisfy 42 CFR 440.386 and all other Federal and State notice requirements. This notice will be available on the web from Thursday, June 27, 2024, through Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at: www.dhhr.wv.gov/bms, then click “Public Notices” on the top toolbar.
