STATE PLAN AMENDMENT 22-0018
REGARDING
INPATIENT HOSPITAL – DAYS AWAITING PLACEMENT
Pursuant to 42 U.S.C. §1396a(a)(13)(1997) and 42 C.F.R. §447.205, the Department of Health and Human Resources (“Department”), Bureau for Medical Services (“BMS”) provides notice of the filing of a state plan amendment (SPA), identified as SPA 22-0018 regarding Medicaid payment for Days Awaiting Placement.
BMS proposes to provide payments to privately and publicly (non-state government) owned and operated PPS hospitals for Medicaid individuals who are awaiting placement or discharge in a Medicaid-covered substance use disorder treatment program. Payment for each “day awaiting placement” will be a per diem rate, established by BMS.
This SPA will be effective June 1, 2022, pending CMS approval. The change would be cost neutral in Federal Fiscal Year 2022 and would increase costs in Federal Fiscal Year 2023 by $4,146.
The public notice period will be in effect between May 23, 2022 and June 23, 2022.
