Accepted Education

National Registry accepts courses that are approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education (CAPCE). For National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) requirements, please review Recertification | National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (nremt.org) for your specific level to determine the number of online hours excepted.

The MCI 1 and 2 courses for all levels of  initial certification must be completed in person at a WVOEMS endorsed Educational Institute. Refresher Mass Casualty or Disaster Management courses can be from WVOEMS pre-approved Class-1 Classes, such as: FEMA ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, or 800 courses located at https://training.fema.gov/is/crslist.aspx. You can also utilize WVOEMS approved mass casualty drills.

EMS Level Refresher courses can be completed online that are CAPCE approved for NREMT recertification; however, you must still complete any specific skill assessment, if applicable, in person from a WVOEMS approved Educational Institute.
