Mission
The mission of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is to provide Medicolegal Death Investigations across all 55 counties in West Virginia in order to determine the Cause and Manner of Death in every case which falls within the jurisdiction of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner pursuant to WV State Code § 61-12.

Our vision is to consistently conduct the most professional, independent, thorough, accurate and timely Medicolegal Death Investigation in each and every case; for every decedent and their next of kin; thereby providing world class public health service to all citizens of West Virginia.
