Try This! Partnership

Page Content
The Division of Health Promotion and Chronic Disease works with many partners throughout West Virginia.

One of the groups we work with is the "Try This West Virginia" movement.  There are four parts to the Try This movement:
  1. The Try This website is available 24/7 with hundreds of ideas, “how-to” resources, and great West Virginia models.
  2. An annual conference for local people who want to build healthier communities. Over 500 people attended the 2015 conference!
  3. Mini-grants for community teams that want to carry out healthy lifestyle projects in their communities. In this first year, we distributed $82,000 in mini-grants to 42 community teams.
  4. Year-round program: Workshops, social media and on-the-ground organizers to help local people plan projects, carry out long-term planning, find resources and get training.
HPCD's partnership creates a mini-grant process that will promote local public health projects in counties across the state.  This process is integrated with the 2015 Try This! Conference, which will bring together teams of leaders (including local public officials, families, ministers, business leaders, etc.) from across the state in June of 2015.  The conference itself will serve as introduction/training for the mini-grants process.
