Each year from June through October, eligible WIC participants are issued Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) benefits in addition to their regular WIC benefits. These benefits can be used to buy fresh, unprepared fruits, vegetables and herbs from State approved farmers or farmers' markets. The federal food benefit for FMNP may not be less than $10 and no more than $30 per year per recipient.
Produce can be purchased in any amount. Similar to your Fruit and Veggie cash value benefit (CVB) if you go over your benefit amount you may pay the remainder of the balance with SNAP, Credit, Debit, or Cash. Once you have made your selections, show the farmer your QR code. Farmers will scan your QR code to begin processing the FMNP transaction. You will be asked to enter your PIN or date of birth. This is the same PIN you use for regular WIC purchases. Benefits may be used from June 1 through October 31. You can check your farmers market benefit balance in the same way you check your monthly WIC benefits, by calling the number on the back of your card, looking at your last cash register receipt, visiting ebtEDGE.com, or by downloading and registering on the WICShopper app.
