West Virginia Diabetes Task Force

Page Content
cooperation green.jpgThe mission of the Division of Health Promotion and Chronic Disease is to advocate for chronic disease management and prevention.  One of the ways we work to prevent type 2 diabetes is through the National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP).  The NDPP is an evidence-based lifestyle change program for preventing type 2 diabetes.
To meet the growing demand for effective programs to help adults prevent or delay type 2 diabetes, HPCD has worked diligently to establish NDPP sites throughout the state.  HPCD met with stakeholders to help assess the achievements and barriers and discuss ways to enhance NDPP efforts in West Virginia. Those stakeholders were invited to join a task force devoted to those efforts.
The task force is a collaboration of community-based organizations, employers, insurers, health care professionals, academia, and other stakeholders united to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes among people with prediabetes in West Virginia.
