K.C. Bohrer began his career in law enforcement with a Morgan County Police Department in 1978. In 1979, he graduated from the West Virginia State Police Academy in the 33rd class. He joined the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department in Martinsburg, WV, where he retired as the Captain of Criminal Investigations after 27 years.
He distinguished himself in several capacities rising from the rank of Deputy Sheriff to Captain of the Criminal Investigation Division. The bulk of his career was dedicated to criminal investigations and narcotics investigations. Sheriff Bohrer’s other assignments have included warrant and fugitive officer, shift commander, firearms training officer, SRT, hostage negotiator.
He has received honors and awards from the WV State Police, Washington County, Maryland Sheriff’s Department, Frederick County, Virginia Sheriff’s Department, FBI, and US Secret Service. He is a past recipient of the law enforcement officer of the year award.
In 1995, Sheriff Bohrer graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. He has served as a Task Force Officer for the US Marshal’s Service and the FBI. In 2016 he was elected Sheriff of Morgan County, WV, and took office in January of 2017.
