At this time, West Virginia has NOT been approved for any additional P-EBT benefits for the 2021/2022 school year.  Be sure to follow DHHR social media for any additional information or announcements.  Please disregard any text messages claiming benefits have been added to your child's P-EBT cards.

P-EBT Expungement

Please be aware that after 274 days of issuance all West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) benefit programs expunge, including Pandemic EBT (PEBT). Expungement is the process of returning any unused benefits to the federal government. Once expungement occurs the benefit is no longer available for use. The issuance date is the date DHHR initially places the benefit on the PEBT card.

The first PEBT issuance date for the 2020-2021 school year occurred on March 20, 2021. Benefits issued in March 2021 will expunge on December 19, 2021 (274 days after issuance by DHHR). On this date, ONLY benefits issued on March 20, 2021, will be removed.
The same process will be followed for all months following: April 2021 benefits will be removed in January 2022, May 2021 benefits will be removed in February 2022, and so on.

If you have any questions concerning the expungement of benefits, please contact DHHR Customer Service at 1-877-716-1212. To check your PEBT balance, please call 1-866-545-6502. You will need to enter your 16-digit card number and PIN. You may also hear transactions by contacting this number.
