The PEBT issuances for the 2021/2022 school year ended with the Summer PEBT issuance on August 22, 2022. The benefit dispute period closed on September 2, 2022. All PEBT exceptions from a benefit dispute will be available on September 30, 2022. We continue to research guardian questions for the PEBT benefit.

The Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) Benefit has been approved for the 2021-2022 school year.

Eligibility and benefit amounts are NOT the same as they were for the 2020-2022 school year.

Please utilize the information provided here and on the West Virginia Department of Education page to understand eligibility requirements and benefit amounts.

Not all children in West Virginia will qualify for P-EBT benefits. These rules are determined by Congress and the USDA.

P-EBT benefits for the 2021-2022 school year will follow these federal eligibility rules:

  1. Students must be enrolled in a school that participates in the National School Lunch Program.
  2. Students must qualify for free or reduced-price school meals or attend a school where everyone eats school meals for free due to the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).
  3. Students cannot receive benefits for days they are in-person at school. Eligible students will receive P-EBT benefits based upon days when in-person learning was unavailable due to COVID-19.
