How to Activate My P-EBT Card

If your child is newly eligible for P-EBT benefits you will be sent a new P-EBT card in the mail.

The card will arrive in a white window envelop with a Sioux Falls, SD return address and will be addressed to the eligible child.

The envelope will not be marked with DHHR information, so please careful to not mistake this as "junk mail".

To activate your new P-EBT card: 

Phone (Quick and Easy Way)

Call 1-866-545-6502 and follow all prompts.

Enter the 16-digit number on the front of the card
Enter the date of birth for the cardholder’s name (Date of birth must be in the following format MM/DD/YY)
Enter the case number that was provided to the cardholder in a separate letter
Select a four-digit PIN

You will hear a confirmation that the card has been activated.

2. Select Cardholder Login

3. Register

4. Follow All Prompts

Enter the 16-digit number on the front of the card

Enter the case number that was provided to the cardholder in a separate letter
Select a four-digit PIN

Important: You MUST create a PIN to activate the card.

If you do not create a PIN the card will not activate and you will not be able to use card. Do not skip this step!

The Office of EBT does not maintain the www.ebtEDGE.com website. If you have trouble logging in after registering your card, use the Trouble Signing In? link found under the LOGIN button for assistance.

Important: Eligible students who received a white P-EBT Card for the 2022-2023 school year WILL NOT receive a new P- EBT card.

If eligible, your child will receive a letter from DHHR informing you of the benefit and benefits will then be loaded onto the existing P-EBT Card.

If you no longer have the card or need a replacement, please call 1-866-545-6502 and select Option 2 for Lost/Stolen/Damaged Cards.

DO NOT DISCARD P-EBT CARD - Be sure to keep P-EBT card in a safe location even after funds have been used.
