Beginning October 1, 2022, the Bureau for Medical Services (BMS) will require the West Virginia Certification Board for Addiction & Prevention Professionals (WVCBAPP) Peer Recovery certification as credentials for all existing and new PRSS to be reimbursed for PRSS services. BMS will terminate its own certification process on September 30, 2022 and only those individuals possessing the WVCBAPP’s Peer Recovery certification on October 1, 2022 will be eligible for reimbursement. BMS is providing this two-year period to assist those individuals having a BMS certification to transition to the WVCBAPP certification.
