Proposed West Virginia State Plan

Division of Early Care and Education plans for informational meetings

The Department of Health and Human Resources, Bureau for Children and Families, is conducting a public hearing on the proposed  child care and development block grant state plan for federal fiscal years 2019, 2020, and 2021.  The public hearing will be held on May 16, 2018 from 10 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Connect Child Care Resource and Referral, located at 1 Players Club Drive, Charleston WV 25311.

The United States Department of Health and Human Services requires public input as a condition of funding.  Public insight gathered from the meetings will help guide expenditures for the approximately $35 million received.  The funds received help provide support to improve the affordability, availability, and quality of child care services in West Virginia.  Funding assists low-income families to cover the cost of child care, supports consumer education for selecting appropriate child care services and provides other key services, such as child care referral, information regarding available resources, and necessary training and technical assistance for child care providers.

The draft plan requirements are currently available for review online here. .
