Applied Improvisation for First Responders: Disaster Readiness and Response

First responders are often placed in VUCA situations: volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous. Skills needed in such situations include being comfortable with ambiguity, flexibility, adaptability, clear and effective communication, collaboration, quick assessment, and committed decision-making. Applied Improvisation (using the principles, skills, and mindsets of improvisational theater in non-theatrical settings) is an evidence-based and experiential training approach being used among various disciplines, including disaster readiness and response. The purpose of this session is to introduce participants to how applied improv skills can be incorporated into their important work. Due to the experiential nature of this training, space is limited to 75 participants. If you are interested in attending, please click Apply.
