Building Restorative Relationships with At-Risk Youth

National tragedies have become a persistent reality. Service providers, educators, and parents place self-care on the back burner to support the well-being of the ones they serve. Extended stress can negatively impact emotional, physical, and mental health, reducing service effectiveness. We’ll address crucial factors in adopting a balanced wellness lifestyle. Participants in this training will be able to use the SOAR Model to identify symptoms of trauma and toxic stress in youth and families; identify implicit biases related to age, economic, or cultural backgrounds to promote restorative practices and emotionally safe environments; develop tools to model social and emotional wellness while maintaining practical tools to manage self-care; and understand effective strategies for working with and empowering resilience in populations impacted by poverty.
