WV Behavioral Health Workforce and Health Equity Training Center * Registration: Suicide Prevention: Recognize, Respond, REACT

Presenter: Barri Faucett & Michelle Toman Zoom Meeting (CAMERA REQUIRED - SAFETY) Suicide is a complex and multifaceted, warranting comprehensive, integrative, prevention and intervention efforts. Suicide is preventable when we know what to do. This session will provide for a general understanding of the significance and prevalence of suicide, a general gatekeeper model of responses and understanding of the experience of suicide loss and how to work with survivors. Additionally, there will be guidance regarding best practices in suicide care based on the components of screening; assessing; risk formulation; safety planning; and follow-up services for individuals with suicidal risk. Learning Objectives: -Participants will learn the prevalence and significance of suicide occurrence; -Participants will learn a gatekeeper model of recognition, referral and additional responses to suicidal risk; -Participants will be introduced to best practices models in suicide prevention specific to safety planning and continuity of care; -Participants will be introduced to the experience of losing a loved one to suicide and the considerations and recommendations for supporting a survivor of suicide loss. There are some considerations that are applicable to virtual presentations regarding suicide prevention and safe practices that are required to ensure participant safety and well being. To attend this meeting, participants are required to share their web camera.
