Managing Prevention Up and Out

In prevention, we often have to educate "up" to bosses, supervisors, funders, legislators, etc. on what we do and "out" to our prevention audience. The science base helps us convince the up and change the out. However, the constant bi-directional nature of our work is exhausting because we are constantly having to prove our value. This session will discuss these dynamics and how to improve our education strategies. Learning Objectives • Overview the historical development of prevention services and science from the early days of prevention to current evidence-based practice. • Assess current prevention infrastructure and capacity. • Identify personal impacts of multidirectional practice on the prevention professional.
