Recognizing and Responding to the Intersection of Mental Health and Substance Use

Presenter: Kris Wright 1.0 CE When substance use is part of an individual's coping pattern, co-occurrence of a behavioral/mental health condition is very common. Providers who are able to understand the intersection of an individual's patterns of emotional regulation, coping skills, and trauma as it relates to their substance use behavior, are better suited to help individuals reflect on their behavior and identify appropriate interventions and supportive services. This training will discuss the intersection of mental health and substance use as well as provide suggestions for practical application of this knowledge to treatment settings.
