Enterovirus D-68 Cases Reported In Kanawha, Lincoln, Raleigh Counties



CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Three cases of Enterovirus D-68 have been confirmed – one each in Kanawha, Lincoln and Raleigh counties, health officials said.

The Kanawha County case was a 5-year-old child who was admitted in early September, treated and discharged from the hospital.

Dr. Rahul Gupta, health officer and executive director for the Kanawha-Charleston and Putnam County health departments, said in a news release that the Centers for Disease Control shared the results of 12 specimens from the suspected Enterovirus D-68 cases.

Only three among the 12 specimens tested positive for the virus – one each in Kanawha, Lincoln and Raleigh counties.
