The Division of Primary Care awards and manages state and federal funding for the Black Lung Clinics Program. Eighteen black lung clinics are in located in areas most populated by coal miners (southern coal fields, north central sections of the State). Black lung clinics are sponsored by eight Community Health Centers.
A variety of pulmonary and respiratory services are provided on a sliding fee schedule. Coal miners with black lung disease are given priority treatment however services are available to other patients with respiratory diseases. Services include screening, diagnosis, treatment, education, outreach rehabilitation and benefits counseling.
